August 23, 2007 – Continuing Fitness today announced the appointment of Lori Rubenstein, MAPPSC, PT, FAAOMPT, CYT, as the company's Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation. She will contribute to the research and development of new products for the company and assist in facilitating medical protocols for their implementation.
"I see a genuine need for innovative products that make it easier for people to continue their rehab therapy at home," says Rubenstein. "It is such a vital part of continued well being and I admire the way Continuing Fitness products promote physical fitness for the nation's growing population of mature adults."
Lori graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. She completed an Advanced Masters Degree in Manipulative Therapy from the University of South Australia, where she studied under the direction of world renowned physical therapists. She received her Yoga Teacher Certification from Samata International Yoga and Health Institute in Los Angeles and advance training in Yoga therapy from Larry Payne, Ph.D., Founding President of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is also certified in Pilates by Retrofit.
Lori has been recognized on numerous occasions in publications across the country and has authored articles in several professional journals. She is one of the few elite physical therapists qualified to be a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. She teaches in the Doctoral Program of Physical Therapy at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles and is also a senior instructor on staff for the Yoga Therapy Rx certification program at Loyola Marymount University.
A volunteer with The Flying Samaritans, Lori provides free medical care to indigent people in remote villages throughout Mexico. She has years of experience customizing the successful rehab for a variety of patients with debilitating injuries, including professional and Olympic athletes. Her grateful patients include members of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Colorado Rockies, and Arizona Rattlers, as well as professional tennis and volleyball players, figure skaters, gymnasts and musicians.
As explained by Continuing Fitness President John Bowser, "Lori's input and experience will play a crucial part in developing new products geared toward rehabilitation. She has founded Mosaic Therapy, a prominent multi-service physical therapy facility in Los Angeles, which continues to thrive as a frequent referral by top orthopedic doctors.
