VQ ActionCare Seeks Leading Role in Lifestyle Management
Space with Acquisition of Continuing Fitness, Inc.

IRVINE, Calif. - May 6, 2008 – VQ ActionCare, LLC announced today the purchase of Continuing Fitness, Inc. VQ ActionCare will market the Resistance Chair® exercise system and other Continuing Fitness products directly to consumers through television and print advertising, and will introduce commercial-grade medical products aimed at the growing number of consumers who need self-management solutions for health and fitness.

James Knape will oversee VQ ActionCare as Chief Executive Officer, while Continuing Fitness founder John Bowser will act as the company’s President. Knape started Irvine, Calif.-based VQ OrthoCare in 1989 and his company is now a leading provider of noninvasive medical solutions for bone, joint and soft-tissue conditions.

“We’ve named the company VQ ActionCare because we help people take action to improve their health,” explains Knape. “We manufacture innovative, affordable medical and wellness products that consumers need in today's environment of declining insurance reimbursements.” As Knape points out, the trend in the healthcare industry indicates that more patients now buy medical products directly, without necessarily waiting for their insurance company to reimburse them for the purchase.

The market for direct-to-consumer medical products is poised to grow rapidly along with the maturing of the Baby Boomer generation: Every year, 4 million Americans turn 60 years old, and this new generation of mature adults is more aggressive about finding products to make themselves feel better, look better, and live longer. In fact, a recent study by the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago revealed that Baby Boomers represent the first generation to not only expect, but also demand to live longer than the average life expectancy and to remain active until the end.

“This acquisition expands our leadership role in the direct-to-consumer fitness and rehabilitation market in the United States and internationally,” added Bowser. “We will also benefit greatly from VQ OrthoCare’s expertise in the healthcare industry as we expand our channels of distribution to include physicians and physical therapists.”

Bowser explains that VQ ActionCare products assist people at many stages of the health continuum, from preventative fitness to post-injury rehabilitation, and help people maintain an active lifestyle. For example, the Resistance Chair® exercise system offers an ideal way to maintain a daily exercise program at home, and also has proven to be a useful rehabilitation tool for physical therapists.
